Sahara Reporters Claims Ekiti Elections Were Rigged by PDP & Nigerian Army | Gov. Fayose Denies, Obanikoro Threatens to Sue

The 2015 election season is becoming quite
heated, as allegations of foul play in previous
elections are being revealed.

Earlier today, BN published a 2013 interview in
which Tunde Bakare alleged that he was asked to
sign a resignation letter even before the elections
were held while he was Buhari’s running mate
under Congress for Progressive (CPC) in 2011.
And now, another explosive allegation has been
revealed. This time, Sahara Reporters is alleging
that prominent leaders of the People’s Democratic
Party (PDP) in collusion with the Nigerian army,
planned and succeeded in rigging the 2014 Ekiti
governorship elections.
The publication claims it has audio proof to
validate the allegations – a 37-minute recording
that reveals the dialogue that occurred during a
meeting that reportedly had the following
politicians in attendance: Governor Ayo Fayose of
Ekiti; Senator Iyiola Omisore; Minister for Police
Affairs Caleb Olubolade; Senator Musiliu
Obanikoro who was at the time the Minister of
State for Defence, and a man identified as
Honorable Abdulkareem.
According to reports, the purported audio
evidence was recorded by Sagir Koli , a Captain in
Ekiti State’s 32nd Artillery Brigade on June 20th
2014. Koli recently gave the audio to the
publication, and subsequently fled the country, as
he feared for his safety.
Sahara Reporters further claims that the audio
recordings were analyzed and authenticated by
Guardian Consulting, an independent US-based
security consulting company.
Here is a summary of the alleged content of the
recordings:
President Goodluck Jonathan is said to
have commanded Chief of Defense Staff,
Alex Badeh, to use military personnel to
arrest and intimidate politicians before and
during the 2014 Ekiti elections
Governor Fayose reportedly bribed an
official of the Independent National
Election Commission (INEC), to bring
copies of voter ballots with the INEC logo
to him on election day
The plotters purportedly planned and
executed several means of causing an
illegal victory for PDP candidates in Ekiti
State races, including the forging of INEC
ballots, the use of the military to facilitate
access for PDP operatives and supporters,
the creation of a list of APC members to
be arrested, and the deployment of a
special team of military personnel to
prevent APC voters from reaching the polls
Soldiers were instructed to set up
roadblocks leading to the polling stations
and prevent APC supporters’ access.
Additionally, vehicles and individuals with a
special sticker labeled “National Security
Task” were allowed movement anywhere,
and were only distributed to PDP agents
